At Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, the Florida Panthers cemented their place in hockey history by defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, securing their second consecutive championship. Powered by Sam Reinhart’s extraordinary four-goal performance and Sergei Bobrovsky’s stellar 28 saves, the Panthers became the NHL’s first repeat champions since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021, and the first team to defeat the same opponent in consecutive Finals since the Montreal Canadiens in 1977 and 1978.

Reinhart’s Historic Night

Sam Reinhart etched his name into NHL lore with a four-goal game, a feat achieved by only five other players in Stanley Cup Final history and the first since Maurice Richard in 1957. His performance included the first hat trick in Panthers’ playoff history, with his third goal sparking a cascade of hats and the team’s iconic plastic rats onto the ice. Reinhart’s first goal, scored just 4:36 into the game, came from a brilliant individual effort, stealing the puck from Edmonton’s Evan Bouchard and outmaneuvering Mattias Ekholm before firing past goaltender Stuart Skinner. His second goal capitalized on a rebound, while his third and fourth were empty-netters, sealing the 5-1 rout. Reinhart’s heroics followed his game-winning goal in Game 7 of the 2024 Final, underscoring his clutch prowess.

Bobrovsky’s Wall in Net

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, affectionately dubbed “Playoff Bob,” was a cornerstone of the Panthers’ victory, stopping 28 of 29 shots. His key saves included a right-pad stop on Bouchard’s slap shot in the first period and a critical denial of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the second, preserving Florida’s lead. Despite Vasily Podkolzin breaking his shutout bid late in the third, Bobrovsky’s composure ensured Edmonton’s high-powered offense, led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, was stifled. His performance reinforced his reputation as a big-game goalie, having posted a 2.11 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in the playoffs.
