At the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, China\u2019s Zhang Boheng turned a familiar story of disappointment into a double-gold performance. The 26-year-old gymnast won the men\u2019s individual all-around title and then helped China claim gold in the team final, strengthening his position as one of Asia\u2019s leading all-around gymnasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The all-around victory was particularly meaningful. Zhang had won the Asian Games title previously, but his biggest recent competitions had ended with silver. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, he finished second behind Japan\u2019s Shinnosuke Oka. At the 2025 World Championships, he was again runner-up, this time behind Japan\u2019s Daiki Hashimoto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Nagoya, Zhang faced both Japanese champions again. He delivered a total of 85.065 points<\/strong> across six apparatus, narrowly defeating Olympic champion Oka, who scored 84.698. Hashimoto took bronze with 83.865.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final rotation made the result especially dramatic. Zhang needed to perform a controlled horizontal-bar routine while his Japanese rivals competed on floor. After mistakes from Oka and Hashimoto, Zhang knew that a clean routine would be enough. He stayed composed, landed safely and secured the gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Wins the Team Battle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Two days later, Zhang returned to competition with China\u2019s team alongside Lan Xingyu, Zou Jingyuan, Sun Wei and Tian Hao<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China scored 255.095 points<\/strong> to win the men’s team final, with Japan taking silver on 253.826 and Chinese Taipei earning bronze with 239.896. The Chinese team led on four of the six apparatus, while Japan was stronger on floor exercise and horizontal bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several routines made the difference. Lan Xingyu posted 15.200 on rings, while Zou Jingyuan produced the highest individual score of the entire team final \u2014 15.400 on parallel bars. Zhang also contributed important performances, including 14.733 on vault and 14.666 on rings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For China, the victory extended a remarkable Asian Games record. The men’s team has now won three consecutive Asian Games titles and 13 of the 14 men’s team gold medals contested at the Games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
