Friends and family from his hometown of Newmarket cheered him on as he racked up points. He even managed to lead the Oilers to a temporary lead with a power-play goal in the second period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, bad luck struck the Oilers late in the third. A clearing attempt by a teammate deflected off McDavid and landed right on the stick of a Maple Leafs player who tied the game.
