Lankinen Earns Five-Year Contract After Strong Season

The Vancouver Canucks have locked down goaltender Kevin Lankinen, signing him to a five-year, $22.5 million contract.The deal, which carries an annual average value of $4.5 million, comes after Lankinen’s impressive performance this season. He has recorded 19 wins, a .905 save percentage, and four shutouts in 34 games, solidifying his value to the team.  

Impressive Performance Leads to Contract Extension

Lankinen’s journey to this contract began with a one-year, $875,000 deal signed in September. His strong play, filling in admirably, led to the substantial long-term agreement. General manager Patrik Allvin praised Lankinen’s competitive drive and team-first attitude, crediting him as a key factor in the Canucks’ current success. Lankinen also represented Finland in the 4 Nations Face-Off, contributing to his overall season.   

Lankinen’s NHL Career and Future Outlook

Throughout his NHL career, spanning 146 games with the Canucks, Nashville Predators, and Chicago Blackhawks, Lankinen has maintained a consistent .905 save percentage. This new contract signifies the Canucks’ confidence in Lankinen’s ability to be a reliable presence in their net for years to come. The long-term stability provides him with security and the Canucks with a solid goaltending option.
