The NHL has shaken things up with several rule changes for the upcoming season. These alterations are aimed at improving the game and ensuring fairness on the ice.

One significant change involves the coach’s challenge. Previously, coaches couldn’t challenge plays where a player accidentally shot the puck over the glass. However, the new rule allows for such challenges, with a failed attempt resulting in a minor penalty.

Another modification affects Rule 63.8, which governs line changes after a net is dislodged. Now, if a goalie slides post to post to make a save and the net comes off, their teammates will not be allowed a line change at the next whistle. This change expands the rule to include goalies, previously limited to forwards and defensemen.

These rule changes are part of the NHL’s ongoing efforts to refine the game and enhance the fan experience. It remains to be seen how these alterations will impact the flow and strategy of the upcoming season.
