NHL Unveils Goalie Power Rankings for 2024-25 Season

It’s Goalie Week at NHL.com, and to celebrate, they’ve released their annual Super 16 goalie power rankings for the upcoming 2024-25 season! Here’s a breakdown of the top contenders:

Number 1: Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets)

Hellebuyck reigns supreme for the second year in a row. He’s a workhorse with a track record of excellence, leading the League in save percentage (.921) and ranking third in GAA (2.39) among goalies who played at least 30 games last season. His consistency is unmatched, having played in 60 or more games with a save percentage above .910 and GAA below 2.97 in each of the past three seasons.

Number 2: Igor Shesterkin (New York Rangers)

Shesterkin boasts impressive stats over the past three seasons, ranking first in wins (109), second in save percentage (.921), and tied for second in shutouts (13). Despite a mid-season slump, he regained his form, proving himself as an elite goalie.

Number 3: Jeremy Swayman (Boston Bruins)

Swayman’s playoff performance last season has catapulted him into the top 3. His calmness and technical skill were on display with a stellar .933 save percentage and 2.15 GAA in 12 playoff games. With the starting role secured in Boston,all eyes are on Swayman to see if he can maintain this level.

Rounding Out the Top 10:

• Sergei Bobrovsky (Florida Panthers) – the reigning Stanley Cup champion boasts another impressive season with a .915 save percentage and 2.37 GAA.
• Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay Lightning) – Though hampered by back surgery, Vasilevskiy’s talent is undeniable.His athleticism and prior championship experience keep him in the conversation.
• Thatcher Demko (Vancouver Canucks) – Despite a knee injury limiting his play, Demko’s brilliance is evident with a .918 save percentage and second-place finish in Vezina Trophy voting last season.
• Juuse Saros (Nashville Predators) – A workload warrior, Saros has led the League in games played for the past three seasons. His consistency and ability to face a high volume of shots make him a valuable asset.
