The 2025 ISU World Figure Skating Championships are set to dazzle fans as they return to the U.S. for the first time since 2016. Hosted in Boston, Massachusetts, at the TD Garden—home to the NBA’s Boston Celtics and NHL’s Boston Bruins—this marks the city’s second time welcoming the event, with a rich history of only 14 U.S.-based championships since 1896. Running from March 25-30, this competition is a critical stepping stone to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, determining each country’s athlete quotas.
Boston’s TD Garden will host the action, kicking off with official practices on March 25. Competition begins March 26 with the Women’s and Pairs Short Programs, followed by a packed schedule: Men’s Short Program and Pairs Free Skate (March 27), Rhythm Dance and Women’s Free Skate (March 28), Free Dance and Men’s Free Skate (March 29), and the Exhibition of Champions (March 30 at 2 p.m. ET). This five-day spectacle blends athleticism and artistry on ice.
The U.S. brings a powerhouse lineup. Women’s stars include 2025 national champ Amber Glenn, world silver medalist Isabeau Levito, and 19-year-old Alysa Liu, back from retirement for her first Worlds since 2022. On the men’s side, reigning world champ Ilia Malinin leads, joined by silver medalist Andrew Torgashev and Olympian Jason Brown, returning after equipment struggles. Pairs feature new U.S. champs Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov alongside Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea. Ice dance boasts world champs Madison Chock and Evan Bates, plus Caroline Green/Michael Parsons and Christina Carreira/Anthony Ponomarenko.
Visualization plays a key role for these athletes. A 2018 Frontiers in Neuroscience study shows mental imagery activates the motor cortex, mimicking physical practice and boosting muscle memory. A 2020 Journal of Sports Psychology study found visualization cuts anxiety by 15% and lifts confidence, while a 2021 Journal of Motor Behavior study linked it to 10% faster reaction times—crucial for landing quads or syncing spins.
Beyond titles, this event shapes Olympic dreams. The 2016 Boston Worlds drew over 108,000 fans, and 2025 promises even more excitement with stakes sky-high. Stream it live on Peacock—or catch it on-demand—to witness history unfold.
From Malinin’s quad mastery to Chock and Bates’ ice dance reign, the 2025 Championships at TD Garden blend raw talent with mental edge. Boston’s ice is ready—will you be watching?
