Amber Glenn is on the brink of making U.S. figure skating history. The reigning national champion is currently in second place after the short program at the Cup of China. A strong performance in the free skate could secure her a spot in the Grand Prix Final and make her the first American woman in 12 years to win two Grand Prix events in a single season.

Glenn’s performance was marked by both brilliance and minor errors. She successfully landed a triple Axel for the third consecutive event, but a slight rotation error and a stumble on a combination jump hindered her score. Despite the imperfections, she remains within striking distance of the lead.

A victory in China would elevate Glenn to a prestigious group of American skaters, including Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Alissa Czisny, and Ashley Wagner. A top-three finish would guarantee her a spot in the Grand Prix Final, a coveted event that showcases the world’s best skaters.

The competition is fierce, with several other skaters vying for the top spots. The free skate will determine who will claim the victory and secure a place in figure skating history.
