While Bedard, the second-year center drafted first overall in 2023, may not have many memories of the Blackhawks’ previous outdoor games, this experience at Wrigley will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.  He is considered the face of the next generation of Chicago hockey, following in the footsteps of legends like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

Bedard’s teammates have no doubt in his ability to handle the pressure of the spotlight. Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno praised Bedard’s maturity and work ethic, highlighting his impressive rookie season where he captured the Calder Trophy.

Despite a slow start to this season, Bedard has found his groove again, recording 17 points in his last 16 games. He attributes this turnaround to perseverance and a focus on improving his defensive play.

The coaching change under Anders Sorensen has also been a positive influence for Bedard. Sorensen’s system and one-on-one guidance have helped Bedard find his offensive rhythm. For Bedard, it’s about trusting his instincts and being in constant motion on the ice.

While Bedard’s experience with outdoor skating is limited, his excitement for the game is palpable. He’s coming off a strong performance and a joyous Christmas spent with his family in Chicago. Despite the unfamiliar elements of the outdoor rink, Bedard is ready to embrace the challenge and contribute to a memorable Winter Classic for the Blackhawks.Bedard Set to Shine for Blackhawks at Winter Classic
