The Seattle Kraken overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 on Saturday night, snapping their four-game losing streak.
Kaapo Kakko led the charge with a two-goal performance, while Joey Daccord made 33 saves to secure the win in net. The Kraken received a much-needed boost from their supporting cast, with Chandler Stephenson, Josh Mahura, and Jared McCann chipping in two assists each.
The Sabres got off to a strong start, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Sam Lafferty and Jack Quinn. However, the tide began to turn in the second period when Ryker Evans cut the deficit in half.
The Kraken completely stole the show in the third period, erupting for six unanswered goals. Andre Burakovsky tied the game with a second-period rebound goal, followed by Oliver Bjorkstrand’s go-ahead tally early in the third. Kakko then took over, scoring twice within a minute to put Seattle firmly in control. Brandon Tanev added the empty-netter to seal the victory.
This win provides a much-needed confidence boost for the Kraken as they look to climb the standings. Daccord’s performance in net was crucial, and the team received a balanced offensive attack that proved too much for the Sabres to handle.
