Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is stepping up as a leader. The 24-year-old organized a week-long training camp in Switzerland for a group of teammates, showcasing his dedication to the team’s success.

This off-season initiative reflects a shift in mentality for the Sabres. Gone are the days of using their youth as an excuse for missing the playoffs (13 seasons and counting, the longest drought in the NHL).

“We’re all a year older than we were last year,” said forward JJ Peterka. “It’s time to take the next step right now.”

Dahlin’s leadership extends beyond just organizing the camp. He’s taking a more proactive role, pushing his teammates to improve both on and off the ice. This bodes well for the future of the franchise, with several other young players like Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Henri Jokiharju echoing Peterka’s sentiment.

The camp itself wasn’t all work and no play. Players enjoyed team bonding activities, highlighting the strong chemistry within the young core. They’re hungry to win and ready to prove themselves in the upcoming season.
