The Anaheim Ducks solidified their future on Friday, signing both their top picks from the 2024 NHL Draft to entry-level contracts.
Beckett Sennecke, the third overall pick, inked a three-year deal after an impressive showing at the Ducks’ development camp. The 18-year-old forward acknowledges the pressure that comes with his draft position. “There are high expectations, from everyone and myself,” he said. “I’m here to live up to them.”
Sennecke put up impressive numbers last season with Oshawa of the OHL, recording 68 points (27 goals, 41 assists) in 63 games. He led all draft-eligible skaters in playoff goals (10) and points (22) and was a key contributor for Oshawa throughout the season.
Joining Sennecke is Stian Solberg, the Ducks’ 23rd overall pick. The 18-year-old defenseman from Norway also signed a three-year contract. Solberg made his mark in Norway’s top professional league, Eliteserien, where he notched 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in 42 games. He stood out as the league’s top scorer among skaters under 18.
These signings mark a significant step for the Ducks’ future.
