Mihhail Selevko Sets New Personal Best

Estonian figure skater Mihhail Selevko delivered the standout performance of the men’s competition at the 2026 Lombardia Trophy in Bergamo, Italy, taking the ISU Challenger Series title with a new personal best of 260.87 points.

The competition was held from 17 to 20 September at the IceLab Arena in Bergamo as part of the 2026–27 ISU Challenger Series. The event featured senior men’s and women’s singles as well as ice dance, bringing together skaters from around the world. The Challenger Series gives athletes an important opportunity to compete internationally, earn World Standing points and test their programs during the season. 

Selevko entered the final day in first place after scoring 91.09 points in the short program. He then produced an even stronger free skate, earning 169.78 points — more than 10 points above his previous personal best of 158.86, which he had set in Zagreb in 2024. 

His combined score of 260.87 also represented a major improvement on his previous official personal best of 245.06. The new mark was more than 15 points higher and also comfortably exceeded the 251.91 he had recently recorded at the Tallinn Open.

Selevko was the highest-scoring skater in both segments and finished the competition more than six points ahead of silver medallist Matvei Vetlugin, who scored 254.53. France’s Corentin Spinar completed the men’s podium with 247.66 points. 

The result was particularly notable because the men’s field included several international competitors with strong technical content. Vetlugin, competing under a neutral designation, finished second after remaining in that position through both programs. Ukraine’s Kyrylo Marsak moved up to fourth overall after placing third in the free skate, while the United States’ Daniel Martynov finished fifth. 

Estonia also wins the women’s event

The Lombardia Trophy was also a successful competition for Estonia in the women’s event. Niina Petrõkina won the title with 210.41 points, finishing ahead of South Korea’s Jia Shin, who scored 209.26. Italy’s Lara Naki Gutmann took bronze with 202.74. 

Petrõkina led after the short program with a new season-best 77.20 and maintained the overall lead despite Shin receiving the highest free-skating score. Petrõkina finished the free skate with 133.21 points, while Shin scored 134.33. 

In ice dance, Czech pair Katerina Mrazkova and Daniel Mrazek won the competition with 188.61 points. France’s Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud finished second with 187.35, while Americans Emily Bratti and Ian Somerville took third with 178.03. 

For Selevko, however, the weekend belonged to a personal milestone. His 260.87-point performance not only secured the Lombardia Trophy title but also marked a significant step forward in his career scoring record. His new personal best now leaves him less than 10 points away from his brother Aleksandr Selevko’s personal best of 270.42.
