The Vegas Golden Knights are poised for another strong season, but a few key questions loom ahead of training camp. Here are three major concerns the team needs to address:
Vegas’ captain, Mark Stone, has battled injuries over the past two seasons. While he underwent successful back surgery in 2022-23, a freak lacerated spleen sidelined him last year. General Manager Kelly McCrimmon assures fans that Stone is healthy after a normal offseason, but his injury history remains a worry.
Acquired mid-season last year, Tomas Hertl didn’t have a full chance to acclimate to the Golden Knights due to a knee surgery recovery. With a full offseason and training camp, expectations are high for him to return to his usual productive form alongside his new teammates.
The Golden Knights boast a strong defensive core and goaltending, but competition for wing positions is wide open. New additions like Victor Olofsson and Alexander Holtz will vie for spots alongside established players like Pavel Dorofeyev and Brendan Brisson. Coach Bruce Cassidy will have a tough task determining the most effective combinations.
