3 Questions Loom for Utah Hockey Club in Inaugural Season

The Utah Hockey Club stands on the precipice of history, gearing up for its first NHL season. While excitement buzzes in the city, several key questions demand answers:

1. From Familiar Faces to New Surroundings:

Unlike previous expansion teams, the Utah Hockey Club inherits an existing roster. This existing bond could ease the transition  but challenges remain.  How will players adapt to buying houses, finding schools, and adjusting to a whole new infrastructure? The franchise’s uncertain future previously loomed large, but with that worry gone, the players’ focus will shift to handling this significant life change.

2. Can the Revamped Defense Deliver?

The Utah Hockey Club aggressively addressed its defensive needs through trades, acquiring veterans Mikhail Sergachevand John Marino. Coach Tourigny has already declared Sergachev the team’s number one defenseman. While these moves bolster the young core, questions persist. How will the defense function as a unit?  Can Sergachev regain peak form after his broken leg limited him last season? The answers to these questions will significantly impact the team’s success.
