The Colorado Avalanche extended their winning streak to six games with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.
MacKinnon Leads the Way
Nathan MacKinnon continued his impressive season, recording a goal and two assists to lead the Avalanche offense. Cale Makar and Valeri Nichushkin each chipped in a goal and an assist, while Parker Kelly added a shorthanded goal. Scott Wedgewood made 29 saves to secure the win in net.
Ducks Take Early Lead
The Ducks got off to a strong start, grabbing a 1-0 lead early in the second period on a goal by Leo Carlsson. However, the Avalanche responded quickly, with Kelly tying the game on a shorthanded breakaway just minutes later.
Avalanche Take Control
Colorado took the lead for good late in the second period on a goal by Nichushkin, followed by a power-play goal from Makinnon in the third period. The Ducks managed to pull one goal back in the third, but MacKinnon sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the closing minutes.
Looking Ahead
The Avalanche will be looking to continue their winning ways as they head home for a stretch of games at Denver’s Ball Arena. The Ducks, meanwhile, will look to bounce back as they aim to snap their two-game losing streak.
