The Washington Capitals extended their winning streak to five games with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. This win comes as Edmonton is reeling from the absence of their star captain, Connor McDavid, who is serving a three-game suspension for cross-checking.

The Oilers struck first with a goal from Leon Draisaitl early in the first period. However, the Capitals battled back with goals from Tom Wilson, Matt Roy, and Pierre-Luc Dubois. Edmonton’s Corey Perry managed to cut the lead to one goal in the third period, but Washington held on to secure the victory.

Capitals goalie Logan Thompson was a key factor in the win, making 30 saves. This win keeps Washington at the top of the league standings and puts them in a strong position to challenge for the President’s Trophy.

While the Oilers played a strong defensive game, the loss of McDavid’s offensive firepower proved to be too much to overcome. The team will look to bounce back when they face off against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.
