Figure skater Sarah Everhardt isn’t your typical Grand Prix rookie. Thrust into her senior debut with surprise call-ups to both Finlandia Trophy and Grand Prix de France, the 18-year-old American has taken it all in stride.

Everhardt’s journey this season has been nothing short of impressive. After winning the ISU Challenger Series Cranberry Cup International and finishing second at the Lombardia Trophy, she arrived in France brimming with confidence. While a podium finish eluded her, a strong performance solidified her place as a skater to watch.

Beyond her technical prowess, Everhardt brings a touch of magic to the ice. Inspired by her love for Harry Potter, she weaves enchanting narratives into her programs. Her short program, set to “Reel Around the Sun,” depicts a mystical conversation between humans and the sun, while her free skate, based on Stravinsky’s “The Firebird,” portrays a Slavic fairy tale.

These program choices are a personal touch, reflecting her Irish and Belarusian heritage. Everhardt’s parents instilled a love for sport in her, and after trying various activities, figure skating captured her heart at the age of six.

Her coaches, Tatiana Malinina and Roman Skorniakov, are Olympic veterans who have also guided their son, Ilia Malinin, the reigning world champion, to success. Everhardt has trained alongside Malinin since childhood, and despite his reputation as the “quad god,” she sees him more as a familiar training buddy.

With a strong work ethic and a touch of magic, Sarah Everhardt is poised to carve her own path in the world of figure skating. Her journey has just begun, and fans can expect to see much more from this captivating young talent.
