5 Skills Named After Olympic Gymnasts
December 04, 2024

Adin Hill was a brick wall in net for the Vegas Golden Knights, stopping all 28 shots he faced to secure a 1-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. This win extends Vegas’s hot streak to five wins in their last seven games.
The lone goal of the game came from Ivan Barbashev in the first period. Barbashev attempted a pass to Jack Eichel on a two-on-one rush, but the puck deflected off an Edmonton defender’s skate and landed right on his stick. Barbashev capitalized on the lucky bounce, slipping the puck through Stuart Skinner’s five-hole for the game-winner.
Despite the shutout, the Oilers pushed hard for an equalizer, particularly in the third period where they outshot Vegas 16-2. However, Hill stood tall, denying Leon Draisaitl’s late third-period chance and preserving the narrow lead.
“It was a tight-checking game,” said Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch. “We had some really good chances in the second period… Coach’s standpoint, I thought we did a lot of good things. Everything but a puck in the net.”
Both teams played excellent defense, resulting in a historic night. This was the first NHL game since February 1944 to feature only one goal scored and no penalties called.
The Golden Knights’ win puts them in a strong position, tied for the second-most home wins in the NHL this season. With Hill playing at an elite level, Vegas looks poised to continue their climb up the standings.
