5 Skills Named After Olympic Gymnasts
November 18, 2025
The Los Angeles Kings just made one of the biggest moves of the season, securing forward Adrian Kempe with a massive eight-year, $85 million contract. It’s a bold commitment — and a clear statement that the Kings see Kempe as a core piece of their long-term future.
At 29, Kempe has become one of the NHL’s most reliable two-way forwards. His blend of speed, physicality, and scoring touch has turned him into a leader on the ice, and the numbers back it up: three straight seasons over 70 points, including a 41-goal breakout year in 2022-23.
Kempe said the deal feels “exciting” and “rewarding,” acknowledging how much the Kings organization and fans have supported him throughout his career. For Los Angeles, it’s easy to see why locking him in was a priority. He leads the team with 19 points in 19 games this season, and the Kings currently sit first in the Pacific Division.
General manager Ken Holland described Kempe as “one of the League’s most dynamic two-way forwards,” praising his growth and leadership. The long-term structure of the contract also allows the Kings to continue building a roster built to contend every season.
Drafted 29th overall in 2014, Kempe has grown from a promising young winger into a franchise cornerstone with 420 career points and strong playoff production. He’s also set to represent Sweden at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, adding another highlight to an already standout career.
For the Kings, this signing keeps their momentum rolling. For Kempe, it’s a chance to continue leading the team he’s called home for over a decade — with the stability and confidence that come from a long-term commitment.
