The Toronto Maple Leafs are on fire! They extended their winning streak to four games with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Utah Hockey Club on Sunday. Mitch Marner led the way with a pair of goals, continuing his impressive hot streak.
The Maple Leafs started slow but came alive in the second period. Marner tied the game with a breakaway goal after a beautiful stretch pass from John Tavares. He then put Toronto ahead with a power-play goal, his eighth point in the last four games. William Nylander also chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Utah’s Logan Cooley opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the first period, but the team struggled with penalties throughout the game. Jack McBain managed to cut the deficit to one goal in the third, but Joseph Woll held strong in net to preserve the Maple Leafs’ victory.
This win is even more impressive considering the absence of captain Auston Matthews, who is out with an injury. The Maple Leafs are proving they have the depth to succeed without him, and Marner has been a key player in their recent success.
