The Nashville Predators are shaking things up and may not be finished making moves after trading defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens. General Manager Barry Trotz acknowledged the team’s disappointing record as a factor in the decision.

Rebuilding Through Play and Trades

“It looks like we’re peeling some guys off, but we’re really building,” Trotz explained. He emphasized a focus on changing the team’s playing style and evaluating younger players who have received opportunities due to injuries. Trotz indicated further trades could be on the horizon if suitable deals arise.

Active Management and Long-Term Vision

Trotz acknowledged his active role in the trade market, stressing a thoughtful approach and a willingness to take calculated risks. He highlighted the importance of surrounding young players with experienced talent for their development.

Carrier Traded for Barron

Carrier, a Predators draft pick in 2015, was dealt for Justin Barron, a first-round pick by the Colorado Avalanche in 2020. The Predators are looking to Barron’s size and physicality to bolster their defensive corps.

Adding Pieces While Looking Ahead

Despite their current struggles, Trotz hasn’t ruled out adding players to the roster. “Don’t be surprised,” he declared. The Predators remain committed to improvement and are actively exploring ways to bolster their team for the future.
