The Dallas Stars are locking up their young talent. On Tuesday, 23-year-old defenseman Thomas Harley signed a two-year contract worth $8 million.

Harley, a restricted free agent, had a breakout season in 2023-24, putting up impressive numbers with 47 points (15 goals,32 assists) in 79 games. He even contributed in the playoffs with four assists in 19 games.

“Thomas is one of the league’s top young defensemen,” said Stars GM Jim Nill, praising Harley’s work ethic and impact.”We’re excited to see him continue his growth and become a cornerstone of our defense for years to come.”

Originally drafted by the Stars in the first round (18th overall) in 2019, Harley has shown his potential. This new contract signifies the Stars’ faith in his development and their vision for him as a key member of their defensive core.
