The Vancouver Canucks have secured their young goaltender Arturs Silovs with a new two-year contract. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Stepping Up When Needed

The 23-year-old Silovs, a restricted free agent, played a crucial role for the Canucks last season. He filled the void left by injuries to starting goalies Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith. Silovs impressed in 10 playoff games, recording a 5-5 record with a 2.91 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.

Canucks See Potential

“Arturs proved his value last season,” said Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin. Allvin highlighted Silovs’ growth and development, expressing confidence that he will compete for a full-time position with the NHL club. “We’re committed to helping him refine his skills and providing the resources he needs to continue taking strides forward in his career,” Allvin added.

Drafted by Vancouver

Silovs was originally drafted by the Canucks in the sixth round (156th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. In his limited NHL experience, he boasts a record of 6-2-1 with a 2.62 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage across nine starts.

This new contract signifies the Canucks’ belief in Silovs’ potential. He’ll have the opportunity to develop his skills and potentially challenge for a starting role in the upcoming seasons.
