Strength training is often misunderstood, especially by beginners. One common myth is that lifting weights makes you bulky. In reality, building muscle requires intense training and a specific diet, so most people won’t accidentally become overly muscular. Instead, strength training tones your body, improves posture, and boosts metabolism.

Another misconception is that cardio is better for weight loss than lifting weights. While cardio burns calories during the workout, strength training increases your resting metabolic rate, meaning you burn more calories even when you’re not exercising. Incorporating both into your routine is ideal for overall fitness.

Many beginners believe they need fancy equipment to start strength training. In truth, bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, and planks are incredibly effective and can be done anywhere. Once you master these, you can gradually add weights or resistance bands for more challenge.

Finally, some think they need to train every day to see results. However, recovery is just as important as exercise. Muscles grow and strengthen during rest periods, so aim for 2-3 strength training sessions per week, giving your body time to recover and repair.
