Don’t let Dustin Wolf‘s size fool you. At 6-foot and a mere 166 pounds, the Calgary Flames rookie goalie is playing like a giant.
Wolf has quickly become a key contributor for the Flames, leading all NHL rookies in wins (6), goals-against average (2.53), and save percentage (.921). His calm demeanor and ability to read plays have earned him the trust of his teammates and coaches.
This past Friday, Wolf notched his first career shutout, making 29 saves in a 2-0 victory over the Nashville Predators. Even opposing goalies, like the NHL’s shortest netminder Juuse Saros, are impressed with Wolf’s game.
Wolf’s success isn’t new. He dominated in the minor leagues, winning numerous awards including AHL Goalie of the Year (2x) and AHL MVP. With his impressive start, Wolf is proving that size doesn’t matter when it comes to being a top-notch goalie.
