  • Sweden defeated Slovakia 5-2 in Group B action. Axel Sandin-Pellikka, a Detroit Red Wings prospect, led the way for Sweden with a hat trick and four points.

  • The United States, last year’s champions, will begin their title defense today against Germany in Group A. The U.S. boasts a strong roster with seven returning players from last year’s championship team, including goalie Trey Augustine and a potentially dominant line from Boston College.

  • Czechia, bronze medalists in 2024, will also be in action today in Group B against Switzerland. They have seven players back from last year’s team, including goalie Michal Hrabal who will be key to their success.

  • All eyes will be on Canada as they open their Group A campaign tonight against Finland. Canada has a stacked roster with 10 first-round NHL draft picks, but three undrafted players – forwards Porter Martone and Gavin McKenna, and defenseman Matthew Schaefer – could be game-changers. Finland will counter with a typically grinding style and some offensive firepower from forwards Konsta Helenius and Kasper Halttunen.
